On Friday March 3, 2006, Coaches from PASA and a few other clubs around central Ohio attended the United States Soccer Federation F license class at Lake View Junior High School. The coaches were both male and female, and ranged in age from 17 to 40. One of the participants was a High School player for Pickerington North and the others coached players as young as U5 and as old as U17 Select. The Clinician was Keith Laughlin. Mike Hanson from PASA coordinated the class.
Jim Haas a PASA coach in the PASA Tim Bits Program and a U6G team said, “I wish someone would have told me about this class sooner. There was so much information that I can put to use right away with both of my teams”. The instruction will make my training sessions much more efficient and my players better.
Each coach received a DVD titled, The Novice Coach, the USSF F Instruction Manual, a US Youth Soccer Manual on Practice Activities and Tony Waiters book titled, Coaching 9, 10, and 11 Year Olds. Many of the coaches said they could not believe they received nine hours of Professional instruction and all of the materials for just $25.
PASA plans to have a USSF E license class in July – August timeframe and another USSF F license class at or near the same time. One of our goals is to train and develop our recreational and select coaches which in turn will improve the level of training our players receive.
Each of the 21 coaches will receive their USSF F license from Ohio South Youth Soccer Association within the next two weeks.
If you are interested in attending the next USSF E or F class in September please contact Mike Hanson at Mike@pasasoccer.org.
